In a way, Merit & Co. started in 2016, when we met. It just took us until this past year to realize we wanted to make a business of documenting the milestones of people’s love.
We got engaged in Paris—Oskar proposed to Bridget on top of the Eiffel Tower!—and we eloped in Vegas at the Little White Wedding Chapel, married by Elvis in the back of a pink Cadillac. it was an unforgettable experience. Amy Lee shot our elopement and captured it on Super 8 film, too. (Although she's no longer shooting elopements, check out her current project, the Sure Thing Chapel!)
We shot and directed the rest of our Las Vegas elopement and Palm Springs minimoon together and had a blast every step of the way. We have been working together, documenting, and sharing our love and its milestones with friends, family, and all the world on social media since our engagement. We like to capture our milestones in dramatic, romantic, and slightly unconventional but true-to-us ways. We still get in-the-moment butterflies every time we look at our photos. Bridget usually leads the development of ideas and direction, and Oskar, an editorial photographer, shoots and captures the vision.
We loved capturing our love story in a unique and honest way and realized we wanted to do the same for other couples and families.
Oskar has a degree in fine art and has been painting, taking photographs, making videos, and playing music for as long as he can remember. His parents were into photography, and we still use their Polaroid camera from the late eighties! Oskar has been a lifestyle and editorial photographer in the fashion and spirits industries for more than ten years, most recently at Urban Outfitters.
Bridget's professional background is in healthcare—she's a nurse practitioner in a Neuro ICU—but she has a gift for styling and remarkable attention to detail. We're both very intuitive and have learned to trust our instincts—we know something’s right when it feels right.
Some of our favorite image makers are street and fashion photographers: artists such as Juergen Teller, Ellen von Unwerth, William Eggleston, Fred Herzog, Nadia Lee Cohen, Wolfgang Tillmans, and Ernst Haas, to name a few.

Of course, we love traveling and exploring the world—who doesn’t?!— but we are also total homebodies. We love music and just hanging out and listening to records together at home. Some of our current favorites are Sade’s “Diamond Life,” Julie London’s “‘Round Midnight,” Townes van Zandt’s self-titled album and “Live at the Old Quarter,” and lastly, Abba’s “Gold” greatest hits record. We’re also big fans of interior decor magazines, books about anything and everything, working on our century-old American Foursquare, having cappuccinos together, and hanging out with our eleven-month-old son and little dog, Charlie.
